St Petersburg Five

Boris the Bus Driver. Smoked so much that you could smell it inside the bus. But one of the few happy Russians. Waved to all the other bus drivers as we went along so I guess he had been doing it for a while. Its no wonder they get to know each other. Once they have depoted their passengers, they have the chance to gather together and chat. Although often they slept heavily instead. Probably moonlighted as drivers for the Mob.

Today we visited Peter and Paul Fortress. There were some things they didnt want us to do. Some were restrictive but I was quite happy to go along with Dont Jump Off The Roof. The last one looks like Dont Build Your Nest Here. The birds here must be quite special.

The Peter and Paul Cathedral and its tall and elegant tower.

The cathedral contains the graves of most of the Romanov rulers of Russia from Peter the Great onward.

Here is the tomb of Peter the Great complete with fresh flowers.

The last of the Romanovs. Their remains were found and identified and placed in their own area as recently as 1998.

The flag flying here in the grounds has the cross of St George and St Andrew. One more and there would be the Union Jack.

This stall in the grounds takes Visa and Mastercard according to the sticker. It looks as though it might also duplicate your card for the stallholders friends to use.

What is this kangaroo doing here? As a non smoker I had no idea but have discovered that it is part of the Winfield advertising logo. Advertised as Australias best selling cigarette. That will get the St Peterites smoking them I am sure.
